Koa Turns 1!

Koa loves little toy dinosaurs, so we decided to celebrate his birthday by going to the dinosaur park up in Nago.

This picture makes him look so grown up, skinned knees and wearing shoes.  This was his first day ever wearing shoes.  As an infant he would always kick them off and they would last 30 minutes tops on his feet.  He's learned to walk barefoot so this was a new adventure for him.

At church the day before his birthday.

Ely was so excited to be the first to give Koa his presents on his birthday morning.  Originally we were going to wait and do it all together that evening, but she was so excited we gave them to him that morning. She had 300 Yen (equivalent to 3 dollars) and wanted to buy him the present from her herself so we went to the 100  Yen store.  All three presents were picked out by Ely.  It took a lot of self restraint on her part not to open the presents for him but she did pretty good.  These pictures are too funny.

 He loved this guitar.

The cake Ely helped me bake and decorate.

My kids have never really been into the cake smash thing....he ate a few bites, and then he just wanted mom.
