Thailand Trip- Day 3- Old City

On our third day, we set out to visit 3 temples in the Old City of Chiang Mai.  There are about 300 Buddhist temples in Chiang Mai, and several of them are in the Old City.  We tried to have reasonable expectations with our children being with us.  We visited the three we had set out to visit and saw a few others along the way.  Our hotel was beautiful, but a part of me wishes we had stayed in the Old City.  It is really close to everything and quite walkable.

We saw lanterns all over Chiang Mai for Loi Krathong and Yee Peng.

Koa loved all of the Buddhist temple guardians and would always say "rawr!"

 Sometimes we had peaceful moments....

and seconds later not so much.

Wat Chiang Man- The Oldest in Chiang Mai, it dates back to 1296

Lunch for the day.  They had the most amazing smoothies. I'm pretty sure I had cooked whole baby octopus in the dish I ordered, it wasn't gross but I wouldn't say it was delicious either. Once again I finished the kid's food.  Thank goodness for delicious fruit and smoothies on this trip or else my children probably wouldn't have eaten much. I would like to say they are super cultured and love a variety of foods, but mostly they are expert at eating chicken nuggets and french fries in exotic locations.

Ely's teddy bear rice.  We thought she might like the pumpkin but that was a big nope.  Girl is crazy, it was delicious.

Wat Phra Singh

When you live in Japan....

Ely was so into doing this.... I thought she wouldn't enjoy it. She loved going inside to see the Buddah's

I'm certain this is totally fake.... but somewhat accurate to describe how accessible and delicious mangos were.

This was probably my favorite temple from the whole trip.  Pictures do not do it justice. Built in the 1400s, damaged a few thousand years later and rebuilt in the 1900s.  Wat Chedi Luang.

Can you spot Ely?

Poor Koa was so tired, he was sleeping when we made it to the final temple

Our ride back to our hotel!
