Thailand Trip- Day 4 - Doi Suthep, Wat Ban Temple, Sticky Falls

For our 4th Day we hired a driver as all of the places we wanted to visit were quite far from one another.  We went to Doi Suthep, a temple on a mountain first.  At first the view of the city was fogged over, as we stayed longer it burned out a little and we were able to see parts of Chiang Mai.

Temple Guardians that went all the way up the staircase.

The fogged over view

Ely was loving being able to take pictures.  She took some of me while I was resting on a bench.

The Bougainvilla was so beautiful..... Sean eating mango with chili pepper.

Our tour guide told us that each lotus was meant for what day of the week you were born on..... Sean knew his day (Thursday) so he filled it with wax to keep the flame going.

Our tour guide told us that the Buddah's look Thai because back when they were created many Thai people had never seen other nationalities.

This man was restoring one of the doors.  I was fascinated with all he had accomplished so far, how tiny his paintbrush was, and how intricate the design was.

I just sat my children down in a pile of ants to take this picture.  Luckily our tour guide caught it, picked up the baby and brushed them off ferociously. He was probably thinking, several times, "Stupid foreigners."  We were lucky we had him.
The view was starting to come through.

I was trying to get a picture of my kids with this beautiful bougainvilla, when I noticed Koa was charging for a stray dog.  I made it to him in time, the dog was growling and showing his teeth.  Like I said, "Stupid Foreigners."

At the bottom of the stairs, this was quite spectacular.

Sean's dad served his mission in Chiang Mai and tried cricket while he was there. Sean wanted to try it so we took a various assortment of cooked bugs. I tried one, Sean tried several, and Ely tried one. I have nothing to compare it to other than it tasted liked eating a dried piece of hollow wood.   It was nasty, I needed a whole bottle of coke to forget. We have Ely and Sean trying them on video.

Wat Ban Temple- our driver took us here, unannounced.  It was a wonderful surprise.  The colors were so rich here.   I had done zero research in relation to this temple, never saw any photographs of it.  When we drove up to it I was in awe.  It was extremely beautiful.

Buathong Falls (Sticky Falls).   I loved this part of the trip, definitely one of my favorites. This forest was beautiful. The limestone makes the rocks have a really good grip and easy to climb with the water.  Ely climbed them all the way up 3 times!
