This past week Sean and I celebrated our 4th wedding
anniversary. The month of March has sort
of served as a stay-cation for us. I had
surgery at the beginning of the month (which I will update on later in a
separate post) so Sean took the month off to help me take care of Ely. It's been really nice to just spend time
together. We have been fortunate to have
this time together, and we both were able to spend our entire anniversary
together, morning til night.
We went to breakfast together at The Egg and I, following
breakfast we went to the Durham Museum.
It was a week day so it wasn't
busy. With our move coming up, it
was nice to go to an Omaha attraction and see some new things about the city we
have been in for the past few years.
There is something so bittersweet about visiting this museum. I wish trains were still a prominent part of
travel in the United States. Amtrak does
accommodate those that wish to take the train, but it certainly doesn't look this glamorous.
She just woke up! She was so amazed by the intricate ceiling.
When we arrived we had a card at our table, which was a
really nice touch.
One thing that we
found particularly neat about this restaurant is that they do their best to get as many items as possible
locally, and in season. They had some interesting beverage selections, Sean ordered a
soda that was made in house as they did not have any Pepsi or Coke products. Our main
dishes were delicious and we played it rather safe when ordering them, it was
our appetizer that brought out our bravery when trying to be open minded food
tasters. We order a charcuterie board
that came with some interesting items such as rabbit stomach, lamb bacon, smoked
salmon, duck liver patte, and some really yummy cheeses that I can't even
remember to name. It was kind of fun trying all the different items. There wasn't anything that I hated, but there
were some things I loved. If you live in
Omaha or are visiting, this restaurant is something to experience.
It's crazy to think Sean and I have been married for 4
years. We dated for 4 years before we were married, and now that we have 4
years of marriage on top of that it makes me feel really old. My wedding day was the first of many
"happiest days" of my life.
It's hard to say I have just one, but my wedding day certainly was the
start of it all. It's because of Sean I
can say I have so many others (like the birth of our daughter!). I have experienced true joy because of
him. He is my best friend.
